The challenge was to create animated characters by building puppets from scratch in either Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop that would then be able to be used in Adobe Character Animator. Once each character had been built and animated, the animations were then brought into Adobe After Effects to create a short animated feature.
Reference images were collected to aid in the building on each puppet from scratch. Shadows were added to the puppets to help provide depth and distinguish different body parts. Large expressions and actions were acheived in Adobe Character Animator by using the computer's camera to record my phyiscal movements and apply them to the puppet. Smaller expressions and actions were acheived by building different layers within the puppet's artwork that were assigned a computer key value. Then, that feature's key value would be pressed during the animation when that expression needed to be applied.
