Hammers and Nails

LOGO DESIGN

Overview

Hammers and Nails is a female owned and operated contracting company in the Saint Louis area. They focus on flooring, plumbing, painting, and electrical services. Their attention to detail and personal involvement with their clients is a defining characteristic of this company.

Design Considerations

The client wanted to highlight men and women working together to complete customer projects. Using a play on words, "nails" referred to both the construction tool and emphasized femininity. Wanting to convey strength and a "can-do" attitude, the Rosie "The Rivetor" color palette was chosen.

Hammers and Nails Sketches

Sketches

A fellow designer took the original meeting with the client and helped develop a cross arm/hand concept. The arms are muscular and show sleeves rolled up as if to say, "we are getting things done".

Concept Development

Along with creating the original sketch, alternate layouts were created. These designs focused on the hands from the wrist up.
Client Feedback: Add arms. Change blue arm to a male arm and remove fingernail polish.

Concept Development

Client Feedback: Option A was most successful. Make muscles larger (exaggerated).

Concept Development

Client Feedback: Muscles were too large. Reduce and make the female arm more feminine. Cross arms more at the wrist. Option A font most successful.
