EPOCH

COMPANY NAME CREATION/LOGO DESIGN

Overview

EPOCH is a locally owned home improvement company in St. Louis, MO. Through the years they have developed relationships with supply vendors, insurance companies, and most importantly, their customers. These relationships developed into friendships that gave them repeat business and "word of mouth advertising". They pride themselves on quality, honesty, and communication. Facilitating and completing one project at a time, allows them to provide their clients with their undivided attention and constant communication, leading to excellent customer service.

Design Considerations

EPOCH's unique qualities, such as individual attention, helped guide the creation of the company's identity. The individual approach to their business required a name/logo that was inviting and trusting to their current and future clientele. EPOCH wanted to reach clients of a middle class income with home values ranging from $150-$500K. With that in mind, a clean and simple logo style was chosen to appeal to a wide range of individuals.

Company Name Options

Client Feedback: Option B's font and simplicity was successful, but the client appreciated the feel of "Epoch". The client felt is was fitting in relation to where the business is today. Focusing on Option D, the client wanted the next design to have less blocky fonts. The large and more pronounced EPOCH was successful, along with the sun element incorportated into the "O". The inclusion of "Remodeling and Renovation" helped identify what the business provides. The client wanted to incorporate "building a new beginning" as a slogan option.

EPOCH Refinement

Client Feedback: Options A and B were the most successful, with the usage of capitalized text. The next design needed to show font variations for the slogan, and add a window grid in the home.

EPOCH Refinement

Client Feedback: Option A2 was the most successful. The next design would start color exploration.

EPOCH Color Selection

Client Feedback: Of the colors presented, options A and E were most successful. Option A's slogan was too light. The client requested variations using medium/dark grey and maroon.

EPOCH Color Selection

Client Feedback: Options A and F were most successful. The client wanted my thoughts on these color variations: Option A had two elements that brightened the log (the sun and divider). When the logo is shown without the slogan, the logo would appear mostly dark. A suggested variation would use the bright blue from option B for the house/roof to add an additional brightness factor. Option F felt too dark overall, and not as inviting. The next design would reflect my suggestions and modify the subtitle.
